Just as every country has its own currency, so do virtual games. Using that currency, players can buy items for the better gameplay or some other game stuff, depending on the type of game. The League of Legends game features Riot Points. Riot Points are used for purchases within the League of Legends Shop. We will say more about the system of using Riot Points below.
What are Riot Points?
Riot Points (or RP for short) are a premium currency that buys content for a better experience of the game itself. So players can use RP to buy champions, skins, ward skins, chromas, arena skins, rune pages, emotes, summoner icons, or even change summoner’s name.

Each League of Legends player can purchase Riot Points but he needs to have a debit or credit card, a valid Paypal account, or win a code for Riot Points within the gift. The amount of Riot Points and the price ratio depend on the region the player comes from and with which real money currency he pays.
For example, this is a chart for the Europe West region (EUW):
| RP | ||||||
| Euro (EUR) | €2.50 | €5 | €10 | €20 | €35 | €50 |
| Great British Pound (GBP) | £2.25 | £4.50 | £9 | £18 | £31.50 | £45 |
Why would you want to get to 0 RP?
Good question, curious player! Given that Riot Points are an expense in themselves, why would anyone want to spend just about every Riot Point they own?
A long time ago, the story went like this: somewhere among the first seasons of League of Legends, when there weren’t so many options for player communication, players gathered on forums. On the forums, they shared game tips, revealed the strategies of their favorite champions, bragged about their stats, and posted screenshots of their champions, skins, and other collections. Rare players who would spend all the Riot Points would post their screenshots of the balance on the League of Legends account that would show 0 RP and thus indicate that they had “won” the game.
However, RiotAmes, Riot Games employees who actively followed the forums, would read the information that one player had reached the number of 0 RP and put 1 RP or another small amount of RP on his account. This would make the player “trolled”. His account balance would no longer show a perfect zero. It soon became quite popular to reach zero on the account and prove it through screenshots, and many players began to actively buy RPs to spend them until they got “perfect zero” on their account balance.

How can I calculate exactly how much RP I have to spend to have 0 RP left?

Players more prone to programming have come up with an easy way to cleverly allocate the amount of RP to spend the total amount and reach 0 RP. It is The 0 RP Calculator, which allows players to achieve 0 RP on their accounts in the cheapest way. For example, if we have three methods, it will provide us with the cheapest and most convenient:
Method 1: you need to first purchase 7200 RP ($50 cost)
Method 2: you need to first purchase 2800 RP ($20 cost)
Method 3: you need to first purchase 1380 RP, twice, for 2760 RP in total ($10 + $10 cost)
Of these three methods, the 0 RP calculator will choose the second – simply because it is the most cost-effective, the player will spend only $20 and receive the highest amount of RP for the least amount of real money.
Digging through the old Reddit threads, you can find various versions of what needs to be purchased to reach the desired zero. Players on the forum themselves made suggestions for other players to allocate a certain amount of Riot Points and pointed out possible mistakes made by the calculator to warn players before listening to the calculator’s advice and going on a shopping mission. Some of the examples were:
You started with 975 RP. To get to 0, you need to:
Buy 650 RP 3 time(s).
Buy 1x 1350RP Skin on sale (675RP).
Buy 6x 750RP Skin on sale (375RP).
975 + 3 x 650 – 1 x 675 – 6 x 375 = 0
Have fun!
You started with 16185 RP. To get to 0, you need to:
Buy 4x 3250RP Skin.
Buy 1x 1820RP Skin.
Buy 1x 1350RP Skin on sale (675RP).
Buy 1x 880RP Champion on sale (440RP).
Buy 1x Icons (250 RP).
16185 – 4 x 3250 – 1 x 1820 – 1 x 675 – 1 x 440 – 1 x 250 = 0
Have fun!
As we can see, this calculator may give some weird combinations to buy, but it is very helpful for anyone who is bad at math or can’t think of what they can and can’t buy so that at the end of the purchase, they don’t have a single Riot Point left.

How can I use the 0 RP Calculator?
The 0 RP Calculator can be used by anyone who has an active internet line. You can check it out here
(If you can’t access it via Google Chrome, you can do so using Mozzila Firefox or another Internet search engine).
The program will first ask you to enter the exact amount of Riot Points you have in your League of Legends wallet or the amount you want to spend. The next step will be to indicate which region you belong to (the United States, Brazil, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Europe are offered here).
The next question is related to your wishes, specifically what you want to spend your RP on. Among the categories are champions on sale, skins on sale, mystery gifts (or better mystery gifts which are more expensive), icons, ward skins, champions and skins which are not currently on sale, EXP boosts, and IP boosts.
After that, you just need to click the Calculate option and the best method to spend all your RPs will be displayed in a large window.
Using this calculator is a really simple method to find out what you have to buy to spend all the amount of RP.
Inside the calculator, there is a secret page from which the author distances himself – you need to use it at your own risk, as he wrote, “Warning: only use the” I know what I am doing “option if you know what you are doing” for everyone curious people who want to know what is behind this option should click on the Custom option (I know what I am doing).
If you accidentally run into a problem or bug while using the 0 RP calculator, don’t despair! The author of the calculator has left his Twitter account and Reddit nickname so that you can send him a message at any time and explain what it is about, and he will probably be happy to help you solve the problem.
As the calculator itself says, have fun, explore all the possible ways to get to 0 RP on your League of Legends account, and don’t forget the screenshot proof so you can show it to the fan community and brag about your success. But watch out; a small gift from RiotAmes might soon greet you. Have fun!
