Signed is a top lane tank champion. As long as Singed can survive the early game and farm up to get his core items, he can run, deal a lot of damage and be a massive tank for the team. His proxying is annoying and can force you to chase him or to farm inconveniently under your turret. When he groups up later on in team fights, this is where Singed really can carry the game and be a big front-line tank that every team needs. His Poison Trail (Q) discourages you from chasing him because it will slowly eat your HP bar. His movement speed from passive makes him suddenly sprint around your team to Fling (E), your carry into the enemy team. Do not worry, though, because you will be able to counter him efficiently and precisely with our guide.
Singed’s abilities are based around his Poison Trail (Q) and Fling (E). To fully understand how to counter him, you have to study his abilities closely.
- Passive – Noxious Slipstream: Whenever Singed moves near a champion, he gains 20% bonus movement speed for 2 seconds, stacking up to 25 times.
- Q – Poison Trail: Singed persistently leaves a toxic cloud behind his location for 3.25 seconds. Enemies within the cloud become poisoned, suffering magic damage every 0.25 seconds over 2 seconds. The duration refreshes every 0.5 seconds while inside the contaminated area.
- W – Mega Adhesive: Singed spills a potent adhesive that lands to the target location over 0.264 seconds to 0.528 seconds, creating a puddle at the area for 3 seconds which grounds all enemies within and slows them by 60%.
- E – Fling: Singed picks up the target enemy and throws them over himself, dealing them magic damage, capped against minions and monsters, and flinging them to a location 550 units behind his casting position over 0.75 seconds. If the target lands on Mega Adhesive’s (W) area, they are rooted for a duration. Fling can throw enemies over walls.
- R – Insanity Potion: Singed drinks a potent chemical brew, entering a frenzy for 25 seconds which grants him bonus ability power, bonus armor, bonus magic resistance, bonus movement speed, bonus health regeneration, and bonus mana regeneration. While Insanity Potion is active, Poison Trail (Q) applies 40% Grievous Wounds to enemies for 1 second, refreshing every 0.25 seconds while they are affected by the poison.

Countering Singed’s Spells
Do not chase Singed, as his poison will continuously melt your HP bar. We repeat, do not chase him! His allies can run in his poison, making you indirectly chase him. Remember this and try to approach from an angle to avoid his poison’s damage. Don’t waste your time trying to kill a Singed unless you’re confident you’re able to take him down, either solo or with the help of your jungler. Always try to stay away from Singed to avoid his Fling (E). It can put you in an undesirable position where Singed’s jungler might be waiting for you in the nearest bush.
Most Common Singed Combos
W > E snare is a basic combo that Singed will use. This combo can be leveled up by using Flash. W > Flash > E, this combo can catch off guard, so be sure that his Flash is down. The next one is not combo but remember that W can be used as grounding against dashes meaning the enemy cant dash, blink, or teleport.
Singed is highly vulnerable to crowd control, which can also ruin his chances of proxy farming the lane. He will surely build tenacity to counter the CC duration, but that does not mean he is immune to it. Lock him down when he is running through your team and then punish him.
2. Relies heavily on R
Without his boost from Insanity Potion (R), he can not fight efficiently. He basically needs all the stats from his Insanity Potion (R) to be valid and to have a significant impact during team fights.
3. Early game + late game
Try to take him down at the beginning. Singed’s effectiveness is at its peak during mid-game, he will fall off the late game, and his early game is not amazing without his Insanity Potion ®.
Singed is melee, and thus you can easily poke him and take advantage of this weakness to make his transition to mid-game harder.
The Best Singed Lane Counters in Season 12
Teemo is easy to learn, doesn’t have skill shots, and has simple mechanics. With the gold difference of +1150 gold at the 15th-minute mark, Teemo is the champion that is an ideal pick against Singed. He is solid in the early game, and his R allows him to force the enemies to buy Sweepers and thus have less vision throughout the map. Fight poison with poison.
Urgot is a moderately hard-to-play champion, has few skillshots, and reasonably simple mechanics that are easy to learn. With the gold difference of +990 gold at the 15th-minute mark, Urgot is the champion that is definitely strong against Singed. He can 1v1 Singed in the early game very easily since his Purge (W) gives him massive damage output even at level 1. His Fear Beyond Death (R) allows him to execute low health tanks, aka Singed.
3. Honorable mention: Garen
Garen is very easy to learn, has no skillshots, and has elementary mechanics. With the gold difference of +870 gold at the 15th-minute mark, Garen is another excellent champion to pick against Singed. His Passive allows him to stay in the lane even after taking a lot of poke damage from Singed. His Judgment (E) will enable him to do tons of damage in a 1v1 situation because the damage increases if the enemy is alone. He is also quite tanky thanks to his Courage (W) ability.

The Best Champions to Counter Singed in Season 12
As a Jungler, Warwick can gank pretty well early on, especially if he manages to hit level three and gets access to all his abilities. Once that is done, he should be able to shut down overextended Singed with ease.
Mid-lane Talon has great roaming potential thanks to his E. This allows him to jump over walls and move around the map quickly. This will enable Talon to promptly get to proxying Singed and collapse on him with other teammates for a free kill. His early game damage is very high, and that can easily counter Singed’s weak early game.
Sivir is an ideal pick for bot lane. Her Spell Shield (E) allows her to avoid major forms of crowd control, which includes Singed’s Fling (E). This makes her relatively safe even when left alone. Her Ultimate On The Hunt (R) allows her to speed up the entire team, providing an excellent way to counter Singed’s Passive.

Best Items to Counter Singed in Season 12
Singed is a tank, and tanks love armor and magic resistance. His Insanity Potion (R) gives him even more of these stats, so be ready to have a slot for either magic or armor penetration item depending on your type of damage output.
2. Banshee’s Veil
Banshee’s Veil will limit his ability to engage and use Fling (E), as it blocks it, and he has no other way of popping the shield.
